Does the Name Jesus Really Come from Zeus?

In this study I want to share similarities between the Greek pagan deity known as Zeus” and the Greco-Roman version of the Yahuwdiy (Jewish) Messiah known today as “Jesus” pronounced “Geezus.”

I understand that this is a very sensitive subject and it is difficult for people to accept the fact that the person whom they have come to know as “Jesus Christ” has had his identity marred to such a degree that his true Hebrew image is barely visible from the original Yahuwshuwa ha’Mashiyach prophesied about in the Hebrew Scriptures.  However, this should come as no surprise to us, since this was prophesied long ago by the prophet Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) who foretold about how our Messiah’s image would be marred beyond recognition:

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 52:

14 As many were astonished at you; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

We can see by this prophecy that not only was his physical body marred beyond recognition, but even his “image” has been marred. Our High Priest, Melchizedek (King of Righteousness) who is the Lion of the Tribe of Yahuwdah (Judah), has been made to appear more like the Roman-Greek pagan false deity named Zeus.  Was this done on purpose? Has YaHuWaH, our Heavenly Father allowed his image or “visage” to be marred so that he could “sprinkle the nations” who are bent on paganism? To answer this question, I will share my own personal testimony of how the Ruwach ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) spoke to me concerning this.

Back in the summer of 2006, I was in a season of fasting and prayer, and I had a question for my Heavenly Father. My question was this: “What name shall I call you and what name shall I call upon for salvation?”  I was confused about whether or not the Greco-Roman name of “Jesus” was really from Zeus or not. I had heard the arguments on both sides, and I was not really sure what to believe about this. That is when the Ruwach ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) taught me a very profound truth. He revealed to me a pattern in scripture, whereby the prophets of old were given heathen names while they were in exile. Such people were: Esther, Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (among others). This was the norm when the Yisraelites (Israelites) were sent into heathen nations into exile. YaHuWaH allowed this so that they could be relevant to their pagan cultures and still do mighty exploits for the Elohiym of Yisra’el.  But then came the moment of truth, when their true identity and the identity of the one whom they served had to be revealed. Esther went “incognito” in the Persian Palace in order to save her people. Even though her real name was Hadassah, she took on the name “Esther” which actually is another variant name from the pagan goddess named “Easter.” Ishtar or Easter was the name of a pagan fertility goddess from Babylon, but Queen Esther was actually used by Yah as she saved her people from complete annihilation under the name of a pagan deity! But later on it was revealed that she was from the House of Yahuwdah (Judah) and her real name is Hadassah. The Hebrew name for Joseph is actually Yahuwceph because it has the name of our Heavenly Father in it (Yahuw). But his true Hebrew name was hidden for a time as he was given a heathen Egyptian name: Bereshiyth (Genesis) 41:45 And Pharaoh called Yahuwceph’s name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Yahuwceph (Joseph) went out over all the land of Egypt.

In the Blue Letter Bible, it says the following about his Egyptian name:

Zaphnath-paaneah = “salvation of the ages” or “treasury of the glorious rest.”

Now, what is very interesting is that this name Zaphnath-paaneah also comes from the Hebrew form of the name of the prophet Zephaniah which literally means “Yah has secreted!”

#6846 Tsphanyah tsef-an-yaw or Tsphanyahuw {tsef-an-yaw’-hoo}; from 6845 and 3050; Jah has secreted; Tsephanjah, the name of four Israelites:–Zephaniah.

The Egyptian meaning of this name Zaphnath-paaneah means “salvation of the ages” but in Hebrew it means “revealer of a secret!” You can see by the Hebrew root word here below that this name means to keep something a secret, to hide, to reserve an appointed time in history: #6845 tsaphan tsaw-fan’ a primitive root; to hide (by covering over); by implication, to hoard or reserve; figuratively to deny; specifically (favorably) to protect, (unfavorably) to lurk:–esteem, hide, lay up, lurk (be set) privily, (keep) secret-ly, place).

Now why is this significant? Because the prophet Zephaniah or Tzephanyahuw is the one who was given an very important end-time prophecy about how the secret name of our Creator would be revealed to us in the last days! Tzephanyahuw (Zephaniah) 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of YHWHto serve him with one consent. Aha! So now we see that at Messiah’s first coming, he came as “Mashiyach Ben Yahuwceph” (Messiah son of Joseph) and he had a “hidden name” among the Gentiles. But now, as he is getting ready to return for his elect of Yisra’el, he is now revealing himself as “Mashiyach Ben Dawiyd” (Messiah son of David) who has a name that no man knew but he himself (Revelation 19:12). And so this means that he is now revealing his “secret name” to his servants the prophets: Chazown (Revelation) 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

Amowc (Amos) 3:7 Surely YHWH Elohiym will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets. You see, Jewish Sages have long believed that there are two different types of Messiah’s foretold in the scriptures. They see him as “the suffering servant” (a type of Joseph) but in other prophecies they see him as “the conquering reigning king” (a type of King David). Little do these Jewish scholars realize that he was going to come the first time as a “type” of Joseph (a suffering servant) only to return a second time as a conquering reigning king (a type of David).

The true sons of Yisra’el are now being shown his “hidden name” just as Joseph revealed himself to his eleven brothers when they came to buy grain in Egypt.  Joseph’s brothers did not recognize him at first because he had a hidden name given to him by Pharaoh which was Zaphnathpaaneah. When Joseph removed his Egyptian costume and told them his real name, the sons of Yisra’el were all restored back to him and there was reconciliation!

Daniel and his three Hebrew companions from the House of Judah were also given Babylonian pagan names for a time: Daniyel 1:

6 Now among these were of the children of Yahuwdah (Judah), Daniyel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniyel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

And so the Ruwach ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) showed me the same thing about our Messiah. He was given a pagan name for a season as “Jesus” but now, his true Hebrew name is being revealed in these last days! In 162 B.C, the Syrian-Greek dictator known as Antiochus Epiphanies erected an image of Zeus on December 25th in the 2nd Jewish Temple (another pattern of the Anti-Messiah). The story of the Maccabees is a prophetic “shadow” and a precursor showing us how our Messiah’s image would later on become distorted to Zeus born on December 25th. The final “man of sin” will more than likely erect an image of JZeus on December 25th  in the 3rd Jewish Temple as a repeat of history. You see beloved, this totally fits the pattern! If you don’t believe that the name Jesus comes from Zeus, then take a look at the 1611 King James Version of the Bible in Luke 4:27 and you will see that the name for Elisha the prophet is incorrectly transliterated as Elizeus!

In the 1634 printing, the King James translators changed the spelling to Eliseus, but it is still pronounced as Eli-Zeus! What does this name Elisha mean in Hebrew?  The name Elisha is #477 in the Strongs Hebrew Concordance and it is spelled: Eliysha and it means “Elohiym is Salvation” or “God is Salvation.”

The Hebrew word for “God” is Eloah (singular) or El for short; the plural form is Elohiym. And then the verb “sha” means “salvation,” and this forms the compound word for the name Eliysha. Why then did the English translators change his name from Eliysha which means “God is my salvation to EliZeus which means “My God is Zeus? It should be obvious from this evidence that there has been a conspiracy by the pagans to alter the name of our Savior to Zeus.

The only reason why people still can be saved calling upon the name of “Jesus” is because the Holy Spirit interprets the deep groaning of our hearts (Romans 8:26-27) and he interprets the incorrect name Jesus as Yahuwshuwa before the throne of YaHuWaH for us.

Messiah is like Joseph who was the “Saviour” to the Egyptians (Gentiles), as Zaphnath-paaneah. Yet to his Hebrew brothers, he was known by his true name which actually contains his Heavenly Father’s name as Yahuwceph meaning “YaHuWaH has added” or “YaHuWaH increases.” In the same way, our Messiah’s name also contains the Heavenly Father’s name which is Yahuwshuwa meaning “YaHuWaH is salvation.” Back on February 10th 1981, I cried out to my Heavenly Father in the name of “Jesus Christ” and he heard my cry and delivered me from deep demonic oppression. My life was dramatically changed and I was filled with the Holy Spirit that night. For those of you who have not known the true name of our Messiah in times past, it does not mean that you were never saved!  I have encountered people within the “Sacred Name Community” who have tried to insinuate that all those who used the name Jesus in times past out of ignorance, were never saved. These people will try and tell you that you were never saved when you were calling upon the name of “Jesus Christ,” but they are wrong. The Ruwach ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) searches out our hearts and he interprets the name “Jesus” as the secret hidden name of Yahuwshuwa before the throne! Romiym (Romans) 8:

26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities (weaknesses): for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of Elohiym.

In these last days, however, YaHuWaH is restoring his remnant to “one pure language” as prophesied:  Tzephanyahuw (Zephaniah) 3:

8 Therefore wait you upon me, says YHWH, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of YHWH, to serve him with one consent.

It is time for us to stop resisting what the Ruwach ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) is doing in these last days as he gives revelation to the name that is above all other names. The one and only name that we are to call upon for salvation is the name of the Mashiyach (Messiah) Yahuwshuwa (Acts 4:12).  Let us not be stagnant, but let us move with the Ruwach ha’Qodesh. In the wilderness, the children of Yisra’el had to keep on moving with the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. If they remained stagnant, they would be left behind as the rest of the camp would keep on moving! Or else they would be stampeded and trampled as the rest kept on moving. We are in that day and hour where YaHuWaH is raising the bar! Praise Jesus or Hail Zeus?

The Greeks and Romans did indeed change our Messiah’s name to Zeus for a very good reason. It is because Zeus had a December 25th Birthday! In Latin the term “Io” means “hail” or “praise.” Hence, on December 25th in Ancient Rome, people would give praises to the god Saturn on December 25th as they shouted “Io, Saturnalia, Io, Saturnalia.” This was a day for orgies, child sacrifices, drunkenness, gluttony, over-indulgence of the flesh and debauchery. Later on as Christianity began to spread through the Roman Empire, the Roman pagan god of Jupiter & the Greek pagan god Zeus were merged into J’Zeus and so the mantra changed from “Io Saturnalia” (praise Saturn) to “Io Zeus which literally means “Praise Zeus!”  Translate versus Transliterate

Now before I get into the historical background of how the name “Yahuwshuwa” was shortened to “Yeshua” and then finally changed to “Jesus,” I want to explain the difference between “translate” and “transliterate.”

To translate a word from one language into another language means to take the meaning of a name from one language into another language.

*Example: the word “salvation” in Greek is “soteria,” but in Hebrew, the word for “salvation” is “yeshua.” If we want to translate the word “salvation” from Hebrew (yeshua), into Greek, we would use the word “soteria.”

But to transliterate a name means to correlate the letters from one alphabet to another alphabet.

*Example: the name of our Messiah is Joshua in Ancient Hebrew which is Yahuwshuwa. In Modern Hebrew, it is rendered as Yehowshuwa. The Hebrew letters in this name (Joshua) are as follows:

Yod, Hey, Waw, Shin, Waw, Ayin (YHWSWA).

If one were to transliterate the name Joshua into Greek, the corresponding letters should be:  Iota, Eta, Upsilon, Sigma, Upsilon, Alpha (Ieusua).

The Greek Strong’s Concordance claims that the name “Jesus” means the following:

Strong’s #G2424 – Iēsous Ἰησοῦς Jesus = “Jehovah is salvation.”

The English rendition of the Heavenly Father’s name is seen above as “Jehovah,” but there is no letter “J” in Ancient Hebrew, neither is there a letter “V” as in “Vav” in Ancient Hebrew. The Modern Hebrew letter “Vav” was at one time a “Waw” and it makes the sound of the “uw” as in “long u” or  “ow” as in “long o.” Sometimes it also makes the breathy “who” sound.  Therefore, the name “Jehovah” should be “Yahuwah.” Hence, the meaning of the name “Jesus” they claim from above is “Yahuwah is salvation” rather than “Jehovah is salvation.”

But the word Jesus cannot be an actual translation from Hebrew to Greek for Joshua, because if the Greeks were actually trying to translate the name of our Messiah (Joshua) in Greek, it would be “Yahuwsoteria” meaning “Yahuwah is salvation.” So we can prove that the name Jesus is neither a translation nor is it a transliteration!

As I already illustrated, if the name Joshua was to be transliterated into Greek, it would be “Ieusua” and not “Ieosus.”

Who Changed the Name of the Messiah? 

Pictured here is an illustration of the way that the name “Joshua” is spelled in the Greek Septuagint. As you can see by this graphic, it was not originally spelled as Ieosus!

The name “Joshua” was originally spelled as follows in the Greek Septuagint:

Iota, Eta, Sigma, Omicron, Upsilon = Iesou

There was no “Sus” on the end of the name Joshua originally in the Greek Septuagint!

The Greek language did, in fact, have a correct translation for Joshua as far back as 300 B.C.

So who changed the Greek name of Joshua from “Iesou” to “Ieosus?”

Who added the “Sus” on the end of the name Joshua?

In the 2nd Century, a Gnostic by the name of Origen began a school in Alexandria Egypt where he altered the Greek Septuagint and greatly changed the text to read the way that he thought it should read.

Origen did not believe that Yahuwshuwa Messiah was fully YaHuWaH manifested in human flesh. He thought of him as just another reincarnation of all the other pagan gods of antiquity. He believed that Yahuwshuwa was actually Zeus reincarnated, so he deliberately added the “Sus” on the end of the Greek name for Joshua (Iesou) rendering it as Iesous.

Origen removed and altered all verses that pointed to the deity of Messiah, and he changed the Greek name of Joshua from “Iesou” to “Ieosus!”

Later on, in the 3rd Century, Eusebeus (a Bishop of Caesarea) was hired by Constantine to make 50 Bibles for him in Latin Vulgate. Eusebeus used the corrupted Alexandrian Text that had been greatly tampered with by Origen. That is when the Roman Priesthood standardized the name of “Ieosus!”

It makes no sense that the authors or translators transliterated the name from Yahuwshuwa to Iesous when they had already transliterated the name of Joshua as “Iesou.”

The question remains: Since the original transliteration for the name of the Messiah was “Iesou” in the Greek Septuagint, who replaced it with the name “Iesous?” And why was this done?

“In the 1611 King James Version New Testament the name Yahuwshuwa appeared originally wherever the Messiah was spoken of. Yahuwshuwa means “Yahuwah is salvation” (Jehovah is salvation). Later the Messiah’s name was replaced with the Latin “Hesus” or “Iesus” which became “Jesus” in the 1600’s with the invention of the English letter “J” which was introduced at that time. Let me show you how sneaky these Gnostics were in the 2nd Century when they altered and removed words from the Greek Septuagint.

You see, in Modern Greek, the spelling of “Zeus” was gradually changed to “Dias.” In Latin, the word for God (Zeus) is “Dios.” Just look up the word for “God” in any Italian or Spanish Bible, and you will see the word “Dios” which comes from the Modern Greek name “Dias” for the Ancient “Zeus!”

Now, with that in mind, let’s take a look at this verse in the King James Version:

Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Now, let’s take a look at the very same verse in the Spanish Bible:

Mateo 8:29 Dios Habla Hoy (DHH)

Hijo de Dios = Son of Zeus (God)!

Now, let’s take a look at the Italian Bible:

Figlio di Dio = Son of Zeus (God)!

Did you know that the name “Dionysus” means “Son of Zeus?” This proves that the “SUS” on the end of names means “Zeus!”

I realize that for many of us who grew up learning the name of “Jesus,” that it is difficult to accept the fact that Satan would want to tamper with and sabotage the true name of our Messiah so that he could swap identities with him. But why should that surprise you?

Why would Satan go to great measures to change the Sabbath day from the 7th day to “Sun-day” (after the pagan sun-god), but are we so naive as to think that Satan would leave the name of salvation alone?

Proof of this can be found in Professor J.C.J. Melford’s book entitled: “Dictionary of Christian Lore and Legend “ (1983, page 126). This is what he wrote:

“Jesus” is supposed to be the Anglicized equivalent of the Greek Iesous but really, if it is, it is troubling to say the least. The English name ‘Jesus’ stems etymologically from ‘Jupiter-Zeus’ the chief god of the ancient Greek Olympus — the coded occult appellation evolving from ‘J-Zeus’… ‘J-sus,’… ‘Je…sus,’ to ‘Jesus’….. 

Some authorities, who have spent their entire lives studying the origins of names believe (and they are without doubt quite correct) that ‘Jesus’ actually means (according to the rules of the Greek language) – ‘Hail Zeus!’…. 

For Iesous in Greek IS ‘Hail Zeus.’ That is, ‘Ie’ translates as ‘Hail’ and ‘sous’ or ‘sus’ is Zeus. The Jesus of modern Christendom is nothing more than the Egyptian form of Jupiter-Zeus, Serapis….

….It is known that the Greek name endings with ‘sus, seus, and sous’ [which are phonetic pronunciations for the chief Greek god of Olympus] were attached by the Greeks to names and geographical areas as a means to give honour to their supreme deity, Zeus.’….

So, Tarsus is the ‘sweat of Zeus,’ and other ancient sites also carry reference to the chief god of Mount Olympus (‘Ephesus’ etc). Thus, Parnassus was a sacred mountain in Greece; ‘Dionysus’ the son of Zeus, was a Greek deity of wine; Odysseus was the Greek hero of the Trojan War, and rather surprisingly the pagan Greek god of healing was none other than Ieusues (a variant spelling of Iesous/Jesus).”

Beloved, I often hear people trying to rationalize that the name “Jesus” is simply a transliteration of the Hebrew name of “Joshua” from Greek into to English. These same people will try to tell us that the name “Jesus” has nothing to do with the pagan deity named “Zeus.” But the fact of the matter is, proper names of people (especially important people) and more importantly the name above every other name for salvation should never be transliterated nor translated!  When famous musicians have gone to foreign countries to perform, people such as Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, etc., their names were not translated nor transliterated! When it came time to announce them onto the stage, the person doing the announcing would speak in their foreign language but they would still pronounce the name of these famous people the way that it should be pronounced in English.  The Greeks and the Romans therefore had no authority to change the name of our Creator. They should not have transliterated nor translated the name of our Messiah. But furthermore, the names Ieosus & Jesus are NOT, I repeat NOT translations nor are they even transliterations! Neither of these names are direct transliterations from the Hebrew name Yahuwshuwa (Joshua).

The Greek Septuagint Name for Joshua

Some people would argue that since the Greek Septuagint went into print around 285-246 B.C., and the name Joshua in Greek is translated as Ieosus, that this is “proof” that the name Jesus could not have come from Zeus. They rationalize that there was no conspiracy to change the Messiah’s name to Zeus because they say that Joshua’s name was transliterated already to Ieosus before our Messiah came to earth in human form. But there is much evidence that the Greek Septuagint is actually a hoax and it does not pre-date our Messiah’s earthly ministry.  The Greek Septuagint (at least Genesis to Deuteronomy) was translated into the Greek language for the Alexandrian Jews. This part of the story comes from early church historian Eusebius (260-339 AD). Scholars then claim that “Jesus and his apostles used this Greek Bible instead of the preserved Hebrew text.” But a careful study reveals a conspiracy to eradicate the Hebrew Masoretic text in order to promote a “Gnostic Greek Jesus.” Read the evidence about the Greek Septuagint by clicking on the link below:

The Septuagint is a Gnostic Hoax

And thus, all modern translations today use the corrupted Revised Greek Text for the New Testament that was dramatically altered by two men named “Hort & Westcott” in the 1850’s in England. These men were Jesuit Spies who were working for the Vatican and the New World Order agenda. They were also followers of Madam Blavatsky’s Luciferian Doctrine. But the King James Version uses the Hebrew Masoretic Text for the Old Testament and the Greek Textus Receptus for the New Testament.

But how can we be sure that our Messiah’s name is really Joshua? Well first of all, when you look up the word for Jesus in the Greek Strongs Concordance, it is #2424 and it says that the name is Ieosus which the definition for is “Jehovah is Salvation” and it references the Hebrew #3091 which is Joshua. Since there is no letter J in Ancient Hebrew, nor is there a letter V in Ancient Hebrew, the Creator’s name is not JeHoVaH but rather it is YaHuWaH.  In the 6th Chapter of Zechariah, we see a prophetic picture of the Messiah as the High Priest named Joshua whose name is called “the Branch” and he receives “many crowns.” That name for Joshua in the Ancient Hebrew pictographs is seen as six Hebrew Letters: Yod, Hey, Waw, Shin, Waw, Ayin represented by these six English Letters: YHWSWA. The lower case vowels have been added to help aid in pronunciation as YaHuWShuWA.  Zechariah 6:11 is a Messianic prophecy of the future High Priest who would come after the order of Melchizedek (Malki-Tzadiq). Another reliable source that gives further evidence about the name Jesus coming from Zeus is from the deceased Messianic Jewish Evangelist and historian Art Katz, who cites the origins of the true name of the Messiah and the Elohiym of Israel from his former website: The original Hebrew or Jewish Name of the professing Jewish Messiah, who was accepted as such by a certain section (some 3000 souls) of Israel, at and after His Appearance in Israel, some 2000 years ago. To them He was known as Yahuwshuwa (abbreviated: Y’shuwa, also spelled in modern Hebrew as Yehowshuwa or Yeshuwa). In time, over the first few centuries after Messiah, His Name was gradually changed to “Je-Zeus Khristos” by the pagan masses who converted and joined the originally Jewish Messianic Sect. Out of this, Christianity was born, which was a mixture of originally pure Judaism, and gradually, progressive influences of pagan customs and traditions, together with a growing tide of an anti-Semitic spirit. This was greatly due to the instigation of influential leaders like Constantine the Great, who was a Zeus worshiper, and who purportedly converted to Christianity.  It was also a natural process as a result of the infiltration of followers of the sun-god, Zeus, into the Christian ranks. Even the name of their pagan idol Zeus was applied to their new-found Jewish Messiah, and Y’shuwa (the abbreviated transliteration of Yahuwshuwa), became “Y’Zeus” or Je-Zeus, which became ‘Jesus’ in English (NOTE: the middle ‘s’ is pronounced as a ‘z’). While it is true that Iesous became the Greek substitute for Yehoshua (Greek Septuagint translation of the Tanakh), it is also true that the Greek language is very capable of reproducing the name of Yehoshua (Y’shua) with exact sonic pronunciation. However, an etymological link evolved between Iesous, Zeus, and Jesus, pronounced: Ie-soos, Zoos; and Jee-zuhs.  Regardless as to whether one recognizes sonic similarities or not, there are many other factors that connect the Christian worship of Jesus to Zeus. Notice “Elizeus” in the 1611 King James Version (Luke 4:27), spelled exactly as seen here, is a name that weds the pagan deity Zeus with the Elohim of Israel. While this is clear evidence of a blatant pagan connection to Zeus worship, we’ve only begun to scratch the surface.

Historians have noted that for many centuries busts of Zeus were prominently displayed in many Christian churches throughout Europe – not only Catholic Churches where idolatry is a normative, but also in “Orthodox” churches. The original busts of Zeus were imported into the most prominent front and center parts of “Christian sanctuaries.”  Rav Shaul’s letters had not been heeded by the Church. In the year 230 C.E. the Christian “Church Founder” Tertulian wrote: “But [Gentile Christian] who are strangers to (Jewish) Sabbaths, and new moons, and festivals, once acceptable to God, the Saturnalia, the feasts of January, the Brumalia and Matronalia are now frequented, with gifts being carried to and fro.”

Early in Roman church history it was very fashionable to syncretize pagan worship into Christianity. One of the most evident pagan elements is the sun-child of December twenty-fifth who became the son-child of “Mary the mother of God.” Ishtar, from where the fish symbol originated, was also a carry-over into Christianity, and transubstantiation is another pagan rite that was ripped right out of paganism and dropped into the Easter wafer, in which most Christians indulge.

Another Messiah Invented By Constantine

Below you will read some very well documented historical background on where the name of Jesus Christ actually originated:

Constantine’s intention at Nicaea was to create an entirely new god for his empire who would unite all religious factions under one deity. Presbyters were asked to debate and decide who their new god would be. Delegates argued among themselves, expressing personal motive for inclusion of particular writings that promoted the finer traits of their own special deity. Throughout the meeting, howling factions were immersed in heated debates, and the names of 53 gods were tabled for discussion. “As yet, no God had been selected by the council, and so they balloted in order to determine that matter… For one year and five months the balloting lasted…” (God’s Book of Eskra, Prof. S.L. MacGuire’s translation, Salisbury, 1922, chapter xlviii, paragraphs 36, 41). 

At the end of that time, Constantine returned to the gathering to discover that the presbyters had not agreed on a new deity but had balloted down to a short list of five prospects: Caesar, Krishna, Mithra, Horus and Zeus (Historia Ecclesiastica, Eusebius, c. 325). Constantine was the ruling spirit at Nicaea and he ultimately decided upon a new god for them. To involve British factions, he ruled that the name of the Druid god, Hesus, be joined with the Eastern Saviour-god, Krishna (Krishna is Sanskrit for Christ), and thus Hesus Krishna would be the official name of the new Roman god. A vote was taken and it was with a majority show of hands (161 votes to 157) that both divinities become one God. Following long-standing heathen custom, Constantine used the official gathering and the Roman apotheosis decree to legally deify two deities as one, and did so by democratic consent. A new god was proclaimed and “officially” ratified by Constantine (Acta Concilii Nicaeni, 1618).  That purely political act of deification effectively and legally placed Hesus and Krishna among the Roman gods as one individual composite. That abstraction lent Earthly existence to amalgamated doctrines of the Empire’s new religion; and because there was no letter “J” in alphabets until around the ninth century, the name subsequently evolved into “Jesus Christ.”

It should come as no surprise that Satan has devised close counterfeits of the genuine Messiah. The Apostle Sha’uwl accurately stated that Satan is able to “transform himself” into an angel of light:

2nd Qorintiym (Corinthians) 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

This deception is nothing new. Satan had already been busy preparing for thousands of years since the Garden of Eden to deceive mankind into accepting a false Messiah. He knew very well what the scriptures had to say in prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah. That is why the Apostle Sha’uwl (Paul) warned the Corinthians not to be “beguiled” or deceived by “Another Yahuwshuwa:”

2nd Qorintiym (Corinthians) 11:

3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Mashiyach (Messiah).

4 For if he that comes preaches another Yahuwshuwa, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.

As you can see, Sha’uwl (Paul) was very concerned that the Corinthians (who were former pagans) were all too ready to “bear with” or tolerate any false teacher who would come along preaching a close counterfeit or “Another Yahuwshuwa.” That is why we must diligently preach the real Messiah of the Hebrew Scriptures, and not a Greco-Roman counterfeit.

Satan Wants to be the “Bright” Star or the Sun-Deity

It is no accident that the brightest star in our solar system is the sun, and our Messiah is called “the bright and morning star”:

Chazown (Revelation)  22:16 I Yahuwshuwa have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the congregations. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

In the King James Version, the Hebrew Masoretic Text is accurately translated showing that the fallen angel Lucifer is merely a “son” of the morning star (Messiah). You see Mashiyach (Messiah) Yahuwshuwa is the one who created all things, including Lucifer (Colossians 1:16). The name Lucifer is Latin for “light bringer” and that name was added by the English translators in the King James Version in italics (indicating that it was not in the original text).  However, the term “son of the morning” is accurately seen in Hebrew as “heylel ben shachar.” The Greek Septuagint inaccurately calls this fallen angel the “morning star” which in Hebrew would be “boker kowkab,” but that is not what appears in the Hebrew Scrolls!

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 14:12 (KJV) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 14:12 (NIV) How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

As you can see above the New International Version (which comes from the Greek Septuagint) calls Lucifer “the morning star” but that title “morning star” is reserved for our Messiah as seen in Revelation 22:16. Lucifer is merely a “son” (a created being) not the morning star himself. In the book of Job, the Hebrew translation for “morning star” is accurately seen as “boker kowkab:”

Yowb (Job) 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of Elohiym (God) shouted for joy?

This shows that the Greek Septuagint is not being honest with the translation! They are insinuating that Lucifer and Yahuwshuwa are both the same being! This is precisely the philosophy of Gnosticism! Gnosticism teaches that the Messiah did not come “in the flesh” or as a mortal human being.  Gnosticism purports that the Messiah is a “consciousness” that has rested on various individuals throughout history and therefore they do not believe that our Messiah would come in the form of a human being who would then “destroy sin in the flesh.” You see the true Mashiyach (Messiah) Yahuwshuwa came “in the likeness of sinful flesh” (Romans 8:3) so that he could destroy the weakness of the mortal human nature that is subject to temptations.  In order for Yahuwshuwa to qualify as our Messiah, he had to have a perfect sinless nature spiritually (having the sinless blood of the Father YaHuWaH). And yet at the same time, he had to be able to be subject to temptations as we are in order to conquer the weakness of sinful man (even though he was not a sinner). In other words he had to have both natures at the same time!

Ibriym (Hebrews) 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Yahuwshuwa had a human nature that was able to be tempted yet he had the perfect sinless blood of his Father, YaHuWaH Elohiym with no sin in him. Why do we need to understand all of this?

Because one of the identifiers of being able to discern the Spirit of Anti-Messiah is any spirit that does not confess that Yahuwshuwa Mashiyach “is come in the flesh.”

All modern translations of the Bible taken from the “Revised Greek Text” do not keep this key identifier in the scriptures, but the King James Version gives us this important “litmus test” to be able to discern the “Spirit of Antichrist.”

1st Yahuwchanon (John) 4: (King James Version):

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1st Yahuwchanon (John) 4:3 (New International Version):

1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 

2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 

*Note: “has come in the flesh” in the past tense is not the same thing as “is come in the flesh” in the eternally present tense as seen in the King James Version.

1st Yahuwchanon (John) 4:3 (New International Version):

3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from GodThis is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

*Note: As you can see, the Revised Greek text has removed the important litmus test that tells us how to identify the Spirit of Anti-Messiah as being one who does not acknowledge that the Savior Mashiyach Yahuwshuwa “is come in the flesh.” They instead give a very weak criteria as one who “does not confess Jesus.” 

But there are many false religions who “acknowledge Jesus” (even Muslims acknowledge him), but they do not believe he is the Messiah nor do they believe that he was the Son of Elohiym who came in the form of a human being who would then destroy sin in the flesh. Gnostic New Age religions believe that “the Christ is a consciousness” who is able to rest on everybody and there is no person who is exclusively called “The Messiah” or “The Christ” except for “The Fifth Maitreya Buddha.”

Now we can understand why pagan sun-god worship is such a serious violation of the Towrah and a sin that leads to death. Yahuwshuwa ha’Mashiyach is the “sun of righteousness” but Satan wants to be the “sun” and that is why he has deceived many into worshiping the created object (the sun itself) rather than the one who created the sun:

Malakiy (Malachi) 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

You see there are many things in creation that are used as metaphors our Messiah:

The lamb, the red heifer, the sun, the bright and morning star, the scapegoat, the rock, the living water, the bread from heaven, the tree of life, the serpent on the pole, the alef and the tav (the sacrificial animal nailed to two sticks).

But we do not worship these objects!

We are commanded not to worship Elohiym in the form of something created. We are to worship YaHuWaH Elohiym “in spirit and in truth.” Idolatry occurs when humans want to worship the creator in the form of something created (animals, trees, etc).

Romiym (Romans) 1:25 Who changed the truth of Elohiym into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Messiah Yahuwshuwa had a created body from the beginning of creation (Hebrews 10:5) but in his pre-incarnate existence as YaHuWaH Elohiym he is the creator himself (Colossians 1:16). This means that we do not worship the metaphor or the object used as a symbol of the Messiah, but we worship YaHuWaH Elohiym. The Apostle Sha’uwl (Paul) illustrated this concept many times in his letters:

Maaseh Shlichiym (Acts) 7:48 Howbeit the most High dwells not in temples made with hands: as says the prophet, Maaseh Shlichiym (Acts) 17:24 Elohiym that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Master of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands; Maaseh Shlichiym (Acts) 19:26 Moreover you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Shauwl (Paul) has persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

And so this is how Satan has cleverly been able to deceive people into worshiping him in the form of these objects (which are meant to be metaphors only). He shifts people’s focus off of “the lamb slain from the foundations of the world” and instead makes people worship the object itself or the metaphor.

Similarities Between Zeus & Yahuwshuwa Messiah

As I already mentioned above, between the years 164-167 B.C. (before Messiah came to earth), Antiochus went into the 2nd Jewish Temple and set up an abominable image of Zeus the pagan sun-god on December 25th and claimed that he was a reincarnation of Zeus on December 25th. He gave himself the title “Epiphanies” which in Greek means “God Manifest” as he claimed that he was a reincarnation of “God” on December 25th.

Interestingly, the word “Epiphanies” adds up to 666 in the Greek alpha-numeric system. Antiochus was a precursor to the final Anti-Messiah who will come before the second coming of YaHuWShuWA and he will “sit in the temple of Elohiym, showing that he is Elohiym” (2nd Thessalonians 2:4).

When the angel Gabriel appeared to Miriyam (Mary) the mother of Yahuwshuwa, he did not tell her to give him a Greek name. Gabriel said to name him Yahuwshuwa “for he shall save” his people.

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name YAHUWSHUWA (not JESUS): for he shall save his people from their sins.

Whose Birthday Are You Really Celebrating? J’Zeus or Yahuwshuwa?

The Greeks called their supreme deity “Zeus” but in the first century, many Greeks began to assimilate the Messiah from the tribe of Yahuwdah (Judah) to their favorite supreme deity. They began placing a letter “Y” in front of Zeus as “Y’Zeus” since Yah is the Hebrew name for “the self-existent” eternal Elohiym (God). From “Y’Zeus,” they began using the letter “I” as “Ieosus” became the Greek way to spell Yahuwshuwa (Joshua). Later on in the 1500’s when the English translations of the Bible went into print, a new letter was added to the alphabet—the letter “J” and it was meant to sound like the “Y” sound. From there the name Ieosus became Jeosus and then finally it was shortened to “Jesus.”

As time went on in American culture, the letter “J” began to take on the pronunciation of the soft letter “G.” Hence today, the name “Jesus” sounds more like “Geezus” than the Greek “Io Zeus” (Ieosus) or the Hebrew Yahuwshuwa.

*Note: Some people would argue that the name Jesus does not have the Greek Letter “zeta” (equivalent to the letter z in English) therefore, it cannot be a direct transliteration from Zeus. However, it is easy to see that the name Jesus is pronounced as “Geez-us” with the first letter “s” making the “zee” sound and the final letter “s” making the “s” sound. If the devil was not trying to make people worship Zeus by using the name Jesus, why then do we not pronounce Jesus as Jess-us with both letter “s’s” making the “s” sound?

In 325 A.D., Constantine a Roman Emperor, in an attempt to unify the Roman Empire, combined this same pagan religion from Babylon with so-called Christianity. Constantine worshiped “Mithra” the pagan sun-god born December 25th. He believed he could bring unity to Rome by keeping this pagan religion and combining it with Christianity. So he wrote the Edict of Milan and he dis-fellowshipped the Yahuwdiy (Jewish) believers in the true Mashiyach Yahuwshuwa.

But Constantine did not remove the statues from the pagan temples but instead he gave them “Christian” names. He named Venus “Mary” and he named Sol the pagan sun-god “Jesus.”

He wrote:

“…the Jews are dogs and the Christians should have nothing to do with the Jews…God has shown us a better way…”

There many were other pagan deities whose birthdays were celebrated on December 25th:

Nimrod, Saturn (Saturnalia in Rome); Mithras, Horus, Attis, Dionysus the son of Zeus, Zeus (Greek) or Jupiter (Roman); Tammuz (Ezekiel 8), Hercules, Osiris, Perseus, Helios, Bacchus, Apollo, Sol Invictus – (The “Unconquered Sun”).

And so now we can see why it makes perfect sense that the Greeks took the Hebrew Letter Yod (which means the arm) and they placed that in front of the name “Zeus” because it is name of their supreme deity who was born on December 25th. The Yod in front of Zeus became as Y’zeus in the first century and then later on in Latin it became Ieosus.

Satan Counterfeits Zeus & J’Zeus (Jesus) by Creating Similarities after Yahuwshuwa Messiah:

Zeus: The name Zeus is related to the Greek word dios, meaning “bright.” His other attributes as well as lightning were the scepter, the eagle and his aegis (this was the goat-skin of Amaltheia).

Yahuwshuwa: He is called “the bright and morning star” in Revelation 22:16. He is given a scepter to rule the nations (Genesis 49:10, Isaiah 45:6). He is also the Yom Kippur “scape-goat” while Satan also wants to be the “goat of Mendes” (aegis).

Zeus: His most famous story was told by Hesiod in his Theogony, of how Zeus usurped the kingdom of the immortals from his father and Gaia wrapped a stone in swaddling clothes in place of the infant Zeus. Cronus thinking it was the newborn baby swallowed the stone.

Yahuwshuwa: Is the King who will rule the earthly kingdom of David (his Father’s Kingdom). Gaia means “mother” and we see a similarity with Miriyam (the mother of Yahuwshuwa) as she wrapped him in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7-12).

Yahuwshuwa Messiah is also called “the rock” of our salvation and “the chief cornerstone” just like Zeus. Cronus means “time” in Greek and Messiah is called “the one who is and was and is to come” and also he is the eternal one who “has neither beginning of days nor end of days”(Hebrews 7).  He is also called “The Ancient of Days” (meaning timeless). The stone or rock of our salvation has been made a finite being (swallowed by time) by becoming a new born baby.

Zeus: Before the abolition of monarchies, Zeus was protector of the king and his family. Once the age of Greek kings faded into democracy he became chief judge and peacemaker, but most impor-tantly civic god. He brought peace in place of violence and Hesiod (circa 700 BCE) describes Zeus as “the lord of justice.” Zeus was also known as “Kosmetas” (orderer), “Soter” (savior), “Polieos” (overseer of the polis, city) and “Eleutherios” (guarantor of political freedoms). His duties in this role were to maintain the laws, protect suppliants, to summon festivals and to give prophecies (his oldest and most famous oracle was at Dodona, in Epirus, northwestern Greece). As the supreme deity Zeus oversaw the conduct of civilized life. But the “father of gods and men” as Homer calls him, has many mythological tales.

Yahuwshuwa: is called “Judge” (Isaiah 2:4, Micah 4:3) and prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6). Messiah is also called “Savior” just like Zeus. Messiah is also the one who came to maintain the Law of Moses (Matthew 5:17-19) just like Zeus. The “government” shall also be upon his shoulders (Isaiah 9:6) just as Zeus is portrayed as being the overseer (police) maintaining law and order.

We have clearly seen the many similarities between the character of Zeus and the Jewish Messiah that many call “Jesus” and by those many similarities we can already see that Satan has been trying to trade identities with the Messiah of Yisra’el since the beginning of time!

Once the Roman Papacy enacts Martial Law that forces people to use the name of “Jesus” instead of his true Hebrew name Yahuwshuwa, those of us who use his true name will be decapitated (Revelation 20:4). When this happens, everyone will know the difference between the true name of our Messiah versus the fabricated name given to him by the Greeks and the Romans.  At this point, every person on the planet will have to choose which Messiah they will serve, and the name Jesus will no longer be a valid name to call upon for salvation. People who choose to use the name Jesus by this time will be worshiping the Beast (the Papacy) if they choose the name Jesus over the name Yahuwshuwa. Up until this happens, I believe that people can still be saved using the name Jesus because that is who people are associating with the Jewish Messiah of the Bible. However, once the name Jesus becomes associated with the Roman Antichrist as a means to joining the One World Religion of the Antichrist, then it will be the name of blasphemy at that point. Right now, YaHuWaH is being patient while his elect are coming out of the churches to embrace the truth. But the day is going to come when the bar is going to be raised and people are going to be martyred for using the true name of Yahuwshuwa. Those who receive the “Mark of the Beast” are those who will accept the Roman Papacy’s use of the name Jesus for baptism and salvation.

Does this mean that people calling on the name Jesus are not saved?

I do not believe that all people calling on the name of Jesus are calling on Zeus from their hearts. Indeed, the Holy Spirit is able to interpret before the throne of YaHuWaH Elohiym what people mean when they are calling up on the name Jesus, even though it is not his real name. YaHuWaH our Heavenly Father knows how to interpret the deep groaning of our hearts before we learn how to say his name correctly:

1st Shemuw’el (Samuel) 16:7 “……for man looks on the outward appearance, but YHWH looks on the heart.

The Birth Certificate Analogy

Did you know that the word “baby” actually comes from the word Babylon? The etymology of the word “baby” comes from the idea that babies speak in “babel” which is nothing but a confusing bunch of phrases that do not have meaning. The word “babel” means “confusion” in Hebrew, and we read in Genesis 11, that our Creator purposely “confounded” the languages at the Tower of Babel.  He did this in order to prevent Nimrod’s satanic empire from becoming even more powerful. And so with that understanding, let’s think about this logically. When you were a newborn baby, your earthly father gave you his last name on a birth certificate. But you were not able to speak or even say your last name yet! And so our Heavenly Father “seals” his elect on the forehead with his name even while they are yet “babies” in the faith (still in Babylon). Once they come out of Babylon, and they begin to mature in their faith, he begins to teach them his true name!

There are people within the sacred name movement who will try to make you doubt your salvation, just because you were a newborn baby in the faith at one time who could only speak “baby language.” But that does not mean that your Heavenly Father did not choose you from the foundation of the world!

The Story of Alissa

Back in the year 2000, I used to run a day care business in my home and I babysat a little 18-month old girl named Alissa. At the time, my son Jeremiah was a Senior in High School and when he would walk in the door after school, little Alissa could not say my son Jeremy’s name properly and so she would call him “dummy.”  Jeremy at the time thought it was so cute and we both laughed. Jeremy said to me “mom, she is the only one who is allowed to call me a dummy.” We did not try to correct her, but as time went on, she learned how to say his name correctly as she learned by our example. Today Alissa is 13 years old and if she were to call my son Jeremy a “dummy” her parents would scold her, and Jeremy would find this to be disrespectful. But when she did not know how to say his name, it became for Jeremy “a term of endearment” as he realized that she was just a baby doing the best she knew how.  Our Heavenly Father is the same way. He sees his babies trying to call upon his name in “baby language” (Babel or confusion) and to him it is “endearing” because he knows what they are trying to say. However, once they grow up in the faith and they do know how to say his name, then it becomes an entirely different matter. “The Sacred Name & Character of the Father & the Son.”

All those whose names were not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life from the foundation of the world will end up taking the mark of the beast:

Chazown (Revelation) 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Chazown (Revelation) 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Chosen From the Foundation of the World

There are many people who are still using the incorrect name of Jesus but they were already chosen as the Father’s elect from the foundation of the world. These people will grow up in the faith and they will learn to call upon him by his real name. Some of these “sacred name” enthusiasts who preach that nobody is saved until they begin to pronounce the name of the Father and the Son correctly are not seeing things from an eternal perspective. They are carnally minded as they suppose that our salvation depends only on our actions. What they fail to see is that the Heavenly Father has already chosen his elect in eternity past:

1st Keefa (Peter) 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of Elohiym the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Yahuwshuwa Mashiyach: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Mattithyahuw (Matthew)25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Ephsiym (Ephesians) 1:4 According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Now that you know our Messiah’s real name is not Jesus, you can now read Acts 4:12 with the understanding that there is only ONE NAME under heaven whereby we must be saved. You will notice that it does not say “there are many names under heaven whereby we must be saved.”

Maaseh Shlichiym (Acts) 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Even though the Father has saved many of you with the name Jesus (because he has already chosen you from the foundation of the world), you can no longer believe that the name Jesus is the name of salvation. How many times have you been told that the use or consumption of the cannabis plant is a sin or of the Devil? The next time someone says it’s the Devils weed, correct them, for they know not what they say.

With the Hebrew words for “calamus” and “cannabis” so similar, and the fact that calamus is of lesser value and also toxic, we must question the validity of the term “calamus” in English versions of Scripture. 

The word calamus is found in the KJV three times:

The KJV translates the Hebrew word “qaneh” (pronounced kaw-naw’) into “calamus.”  Per Strong’s Concordance, “qaneh” means “a reed (as erect); by resemblance a rod (especially for measuring) shaft, tube, stem, (the radius of the arm) beam (of a steelyard): – balance, bone, branch, calamus, cane, reed, spearman, stalk.”

The Hebrew word for “calamus” is “kanah bosm,” which is plural.  The singular for this is “kaneh bos,” which sounds remarkably close the modern word “cannabis.”

According to Webster’s New Hebrew dictionary, the current Hebrew word for cannabis is “kanabos.”
Thus, contentions that the KJV possibly interpreted the Hebrew word incorrectly as “calamus” warrant consideration.

Exodus 30If Exodus 30:23 is referring to a monetary value of calamus or cannabis, the “250 shekels” is approximately $125.00 worth (which is 2.5 cents/gerah X 20 gerahs/shekel X 250 shekels in Ex30:23) which is a considerable amount.
* Per the ATS Bible Dictionary (and others), a shekel is a term for either weight or currency (a coin.)  A shekel is worth 20 gerahs.  A gerah is the smallest weight or coin among the Jews, and worth about two and a half cents.

If the 250 shekels is referring to weight, instead of coinage, it is a considerable amount of whatever it is the KJV is referring to as “calamus.”

While cannabis is non-toxic (not a single death has ever been directly attributed to it, despite much effort being given to document such a fatality), calamus is most definitely a toxin. The FDA banned calamus from uses in food and medicines in 1968 as calamus contains more than 75% asarone.  Asarone is a poison which has been shown to cause cancer, and has ill effects on heart, liver and kidney functions.  This toxin in calamus is used for pest control.  Why would God specify a large quantity of a poison be used in holy anointing oil?

In 1936, Sula Benet, a Polish etymologist from the Institute of Anthropological Sciences in Warsaw revealed solid evidence of the Hebrew use of cannabis.  The word “cannabis had previously been thought to be of Scythian origin as Scythians first brought the plant to Europe, but Benet showed it has much earlier origin in Semitic languages like Hebrew. Sula Benet “In the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament there are references to hemp, both as incense, which was an integral part of religious celebration, and as an intoxicant.”  Benet demonstrated that the word for cannabis is “kaneh-bosm”, and in traditional Hebrew “kaneh” or “kannabus.”  The root “kan” here means “reed” or “hemp”, while “bosm” means “aromatic.”  This word appears five times in the Old Testament (Exodus, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel) and has been mistranslated as “calamus”, a common marsh plant with little monetary value that does not have the qualities or value ascribed to “kaneh-bosm.”  The error occurred in the oldest Greek translation of the Hebrew bible, the Septuagint in the 3rd century BC, and was repeated in translations that followed.

It is illogical to assume that a plant as important as cannabis, which is such an incredibly useful source of fiber for textiles, loaded with nutritive oils and medicinal properties while also being non-toxic and ridiculously easy to grow, would have gone unnoticed and would have been ignored by the Judaic religion.

With as many benefits (medicinal and utilitarian) that cannabis has to offer humanity, I contend humanity needs to expedite the end of prohibition of this non-toxic plant, and have it removed from the governments drug scheduling listing. There is no valid reason to have our brothers and sisters jailed for consuming this “NON-TOXIC” plant. There is no need to have lives ruined for trying to be healthy.

Bible-believers, specifically, need to thoroughly examine this issue in light of the etymology (the origin of a word and the historical development of its meaning), and the likelihood of mis-translation of “qenah” in the King James Version. WHAT IF God intended cannabis (as opposed to calamus) to be part of the anointing oil?

I copied and posted this write-up to bring forth the question, “Which Israel am I supposed to stand with? If any person tells you to “Stand with Israel”, do you know which Israel they are speaking of?


There is a great deal of misunderstanding today in the reading and interpretation of Scripture. This confusion has been caused by the faulty comparison of the terms and meanings for Israel, Judah, and Jew. Many theologians and sincere Christians are convinced that these terms, which refer to specific peoples, are interchangeable, and refer to a single group of people known today as Jews.

A study of the listings in any complete Bible concordance will provide convincing proof that the words Israel, Judah, and Jew are not synonymous terms in the Scriptures, but refer to completely different and distinct people.

In Young’s Analytical Concordance of the Bible, there are 287 references to the Jews; 802 references to Judah; and more than 2,500 references to Israel. Why all of the difference in these references if they are all the same and refer to the same people? In addition, in many of these references there are hundreds of statements about Israel and Judah. Why the use of the conjunction “and,” if the two names refer to the same people?

Surely it is obvious that all Christians need to be more aware and cognizant of the difference and distinction between Israel, Judah, and the remnant of Judah, known as the Jews. Each of these groups has a specific purpose and particular destiny in Cod’s ultimate plan. To apply to one group those prophesies and purposes assigned to another of the groups is to cause confusion and total misunderstanding. Israel and Judah are in the world today, and they should not be confused with the Jews of today, many of whom are not, and have never been of the lineage of Abraham.

Lauritz Larson has prepared an outstanding study with regard to the distinctions and differences of Israel, Judah and the Jews. many of the promises made by God to “all of Israel” have been outwardly and incorrectly claimed by the Zionist’s, with support and backing of fundamentalist Christian leaders and groups who may be blind to the truth, or mesmerized by ungodly financial support.

After the Assyrian captivity, Israel (all twelve tribes) never returned to Palestine. When Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem some 125 years later and took the captives to Babylon, only a small remnant (about 50,000) later returned to Jerusalem. Whatever happened to the millions who were removed from the land during the captivities and conquests? We today are being fed a Scriptural untruth by many of those to whom we look for “expert” advice. I hope this booklet will help you in seeing the truth.

All mere opinions expressed in the following text should be considered as tentative, since the author’s purpose is to bring out that which is indicated in the Scriptures concerning Israel, Judah, and the Jew. When we study the history of the descendants of Jacob as it appears in the Bible, we note that there developed among the tribes four distinct, main groups: Israel, or House of Israel; Judah, or House of Judah; the House of David; the Jewish, or “70 week,” nation. In Palestine the tribes were temporarily grouped as the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah.

When we read books or listen to sermons and broadcasts on Bible Prophecies, we soon discover that there are many differing interpretations and conflicting explanations. Even a superficial study of Bible prophecy makes it clear that such confusion is due largely to the fact that the names, Israel, Judah, and Jew, are being used synonymously or should we say, mis-used. Some prophecies apply only to Israel, some only to Judah, some only to the House of David, and still others only to the Jews. Only by understanding that these groups are distinct and that each prophecy must be applied to the group to which it belongs, can we hope to find our way our of existing confusion concerning Biblical Prophecies.


Abraham and Isaac were Hebrews, they were neither Israelites nor Jews. They were descendants of Noah through Shem and Heber, hence the name Hebrews (Genesis 10:21-25). Jacob, son of Isaac, was the first Israelite because God changed his name to Israel (Genesis 32:27-28). So all the sons of Jacob were Israelites and also Hebrews; they headed the twelve tribes of Israel, and their descendants are Israelites. Only a snail “residue” of the Kingdom of Judah was called “Jews,” after the Babylonian captivity, about 1200 years after the birth of Judah, the patriarch of the tribe of Judah (Jeremiah 24:8 and Jeremiah 52:28-30).


“When Israel went out of Egypt, the House of Jacob from a people of strange language; Judah was His sanctuary, and Israel His Dominion” (Psalm 114:1,2). Here we have an explicit statement that at the time of the Exodus, there existed two distinct tribal groups: Judah, the one tribe, His Sanctuary; and Israel, the eleven tribes, His Dominion, or Nation. But there is another important fact contained in the passage quoted above. We perceive that the name “Israel” is used to denote the eleven-tribe group at the time of the Exodus from Egypt; therefore we must look for some event prior to the Exodus in order to determine what caused the name Israel to be so applied. The explanation is found in Genesis 48, where we find that Jacob, shortly before his death, adopted Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, as his own (Genesis 48:5). Re then blessed them (Genesis 48:20) and gave them the birthright (1 Chronicles 5:1,2); and conferred upon them his name, Israel (Genesis 48:16). From that time on, all the tribes except Judah were grouped under the leadership of Ephraim and Manasseh, and were referred to as Israel, or as the House of Israel, His Dominion.

POINT 3 – His Sanctuary

Immediately after blessing Ephraim and Manasseh, Jacob called his twelve sons to him and blessed them. To Judah he said: “The Sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from beneath his feet (Genesis 49:10). This distinctive blessing constituted the tribe of Judah, His Sanctuary. Tn due time the royal House of David was set up and separated from the tribe of Judah (see: 2 Samuel 7). To this House of David the throne and the sceptre were given, but the house or tribe of Judah still remained as God’s Sanctuary, and the temple and religious services were established in the midst of the latter tribe. Later the Jewish Nation, formed from a small “residue” of the Kingdom of Judah who returned from the Babylonian captivity, formed the background and surroundings for the coming of the Messiah; and “Unto them were committed the oracles of God” (Romans 3:2). These oracles of God were, of course, the books of the Old Testament which were the only Scriptures until after the coming of Christ Jesus.

POINT 4 – God’s Battle Axe

Among other things, Israel was to be God’s battle axe and weapon of war (Jeremiah 51:20-23). In verses 24-26, it is stated that retribution should overtake Babylon and Chaldea for that which they had done to Israel and to the captives of Judah. Assyria ruled over Chaldea, and therefore was included in the threatened retribution. From history it is evident that the Israelites participated in the destruction of Nineveh; also as soldiers in the army of Cyrus, they helped in the capture of Babylon. Later known by various names (particularly Goths), given them by the Greek and Roman historians, they collided with, and broke Imperial Rome.

POINT 5 – Distinction Between Israel and Judah

The important thing to note here is that Israel, the eleven-tribe group, and Judah, the one-tribe group, have different tasks to perform. But nowhere in the Bible is there anything to indicate that either group has the right to assume the prerogative of the other, and the distinction between these two groups is maintained scrupulously throughout the Bible. They are always referred to separately as Israel and Judah, or as House of Israel and House of Judah; the distinction being shown clearly in any Bible passages. Other passages indicate that the term “all Israel” means the “eleven-tribe” group. The following are a few of many such passages:

POINT 6 – Clay and Crockery


The 18th and 19th chapters of Jeremiah contain a remarkable comparison of the eleven-tribed Israel and the one-tribe Judah. Potter’s clay is used to symbolize Israel, while a burned bottle (crockery) is used to denote Judah. Israel, the tractable, plastic-like clay can be molded into the desired shape by the potter; Judah, the rigid, unyielding crockery which breaks but cannot bend. Qualities more dis-similar cannot well be imagined.

After observing that Jeremiah devotes two entire chapters to making clear this vital distinction between Israel and Judah, how can anyone fancy that the Jews, who are a very small fraction of the tribe of Judah, can possibly take the place of Israel, the eleven tribes?

POINT 7 – The House of David

When Samuel anointed David king he did not make him king either of Israel or Judah; rather it was the occasion when the authority hitherto vested in the Judges was transferred to the Royal House of David (1 Samuel 16:1-3,13). Later, David was accepted by the men of Judah as King of Judah. After reigning seven and one-half years in Hebron as King of Judah, he was chosen by the elders of Israel to be King of Israel, also; thus he became King of both Israel and Judah, separate nations under one ruler (2 Samuel 2:4 and 5:1-5).

By these acts, the Royal House of David was established and became heir to the promise made to Judah: “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah” (Genesis 49:10). The establishment of the House of David is further attested to in 2 Samuel 7:11-16, and it is recorded in 1 Chronicles 21:18-25 that David bought and paid for the site on which the temple later stood That the House of David holds a title deed to the temple site is a tremendously important fact, the implications of which cannot be considered at this time. It is said that the reason the Mohammedans do not repair the Mosque of Omar is that they have a rule not to repair any structure located on land to which they hold no title.

POINT 8 – Independent Identity Maintained

The establishment of the Monarchy of Israel did not alter the tribal distinction. David was anointed King over Judah and over Israel at different times and places. No man was ever king in Israel by virtue of being king in Judah, and vice versa. Solomon was anointed king over Israel at Gehon, while Rehoboam went to Shechem for “all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king” (1 Kings 12:1).

POINT 9 – Ancestry of Christ Jesus

According to 1 Samuel 16:12 and 1 Samuel 17:42, David was fair and ruddy, a description that fits a ruddy Scotchman but does not fit the present day Jew. We know that Ruth, David’s great-grandmother, possessed a wonderful quality of loyalty. Ruth evidently possessed certain superior qualities which, being infused into this family, produced marked biological differences between the House of David and the rest of the tribe of Judah. Since the ancestry of Christ was contained in the House of David, it is likely that his house was affected by other favorable biological factors. Jesus was a descendant of the House of David, not of the Jew, who did not come into existence until nearly 450 years after the establishment of the House of David. 



POINT 10 – Israel’s Rebellion

The union of Israel and Judah under David and Solomon was a political union. At the time of the division, during the reign of Rehoboam, there was no difficulty between Israel and Judah, the quarrel was between Israel and the House of David over the vexing question of taxation: “So Israel rebelled against the House of David unto this day.. .there was none that followed the House of David but the tribe of Judah only” (1 Kings 12:17-20). For the complete story of this division, read 1 Kings, chapters 11 and 19, and 2 Chronicles 10 and 11.

POINT 11 – Benjamin Becomes a Light


The tribe of Benjamin, one of the eleven, was promised to the House of David as a light in Jerusalem (1 Kings 11:13,32,36). So we read in 1 Kings 12:21 that Benjamin was aligned with Judah after the division. We well may wonder about Benjamin being a “light for the House of David. What sort of Light was required in Jerusalem that Judah could not supply? What did Benjamin possess that Judah lacked? However absorbing these questions may be, they shall have to go un-answered for the present.

POINT 12 – The Two Kingdoms Independent

After the division, the ten tribes continued as the nation of Israel, the Lord’s Dominion, with Jeroboan as king. The tribes of Judah and Benjamin, part of Levi, and the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah (1 Kings 12:17) became the Kingdom of Judah, with Rehoboan as their king. Some of the Israel people joined Rehoboam for religious reasons, but stayed with him for three years only (2 Chronicles 11:16-17). During the reign of Asa, king of Judah, many Israelites joined him for religious reasons, (2 Chronicles 15:9), but it does not follow that these Israelites moved into the Kingdom of Judah. Later on we shall see that the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah and those who had joined Asa and Rehoboam for religious reasons did not become a part of the Jewish nation when that nation was established about 450 years later. 



POINT 13 – History of the Two Kingdoms

Following the division between Israel and Judah, the vicissitudes of fortune which befell these Hebrew Kingdoms were much the same, except that the Kingdom of Judah did not have the dynastic difficulties which plagued the Kingdom of Israel. The Kingdoms of Israel and Judah were at war with each other most of the time, but we shall not here consider their histories other than to tell of their break-up.

POINT 14 – Israel Goes Into Captivity



“Within three score and five years shall Ephraim (Israel) be broken that it be not a nation” (Isaiah 7:8). This happened literally during the 65 years between 741 and 676 B.C. when the Assyrian kings, Tiglath-pilneser, Shalmaneser, and Esar-haddon, carried away the ten tribes to Media (1 Chronicles 5:26). The final captivity by Esar-haddon is not recorded in the Bible.


POINT 15 – Men of Judah Taken Away

“In the fourteenth year of Hezekiah did Sennacherib, king of Assyria, come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them” (2 Kings 18:13). We have from Sennacherib’s own records the following. “As for Hezekiah, the Jew who did not submit to my yoke, forty-eight of his strong walled cities, as well as the small cities of their neighborhoodby escalade and bringing up siege engines, by attacking and storming on foot, by mines, tunnels and breaches, I took 200,150 people, great and small, male and female; horses, mules, asses, camels, cattle and sheep without number, I brought from them as spoil. Himself, like a caged bird, I shut up in his royal city of Jerusalem.”

POINT 16 – Only Inhabitants of Jerusalem Left

This event occurred early in the reign of Sennacherib, who came to the Assyrian throne in 705 B.C. It is evident that he carried away all the people of the Kingdom of Judah except those who were shut up within the walls of Jerusalem.



POINT 17 – Jehoiakim Killed

After the fall of Nineveh (612 B.C.), the Babylonians rapidly displaced the Assyrian power. When the victorious Babylonian king marched on Jerusalem, there was little that the then reigning king, Jehoiakim, could do but submit, which he did in 606 B.C. After three years, Jehoiakim rebelled, surrendered, and was killed; 3,025 of the people were then removed to Babylon (2 Kings 24:1-6; Jeremiah 22:18,19; Jeremiah 36:30; Jeremiah 52:28; Josephus, Book 10, Chapter 6). The prophet Ezekial was among these captives.


POINT 18 – Jehoiakin Deposed

Following the death of Jehoiakim, his son, Jehoiakin (also called Jeconiah or Coniah) was placed on the throne by Nebuchadnezzar. After a reign of three months and ten days, Jeconiab was deposed and exiled with the better element of his people (Josephus, Book 10, Chapter 7). “And he carried away all Jerusalem and all the princes and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths; none remained save the poorest sort of people of the land” (2 Kings 24:12-16; Jeremiah 24:8).

POINT 19 – Zedekiah Last King of Judah

Zedekiah followed Jeconiah on the throne, but he too rebelled. During the siege that followed, 832 captives were exiled; and sometime after the fall of Jerusalem, 745 captives were deported (Jeremiah 52:29,30). The total number of captives exiled from Jerusalem was only 4600, as recorded by Jeremiah. Note that the 10,000 exiled with Jehoichin are not included in the list in Jeremiah 52.

POINT 20 – Residue of Judah Flee to Egypt

After the fall of Jerusalem and the exile of 4600 captives, there remained in that city a residue over which Gedeliah was placed as Governor Gedeliah was soon murdered, and the people, in fear of the Babylonians, disregarded the advice of Jeremiah and fled to Egypt, taking with them Jeremiah and the daughters of Zedekiah. Later Nebuchadnezzar conquered Egypt, made captives of the Jews there and sent them to Babylon (see: Jeremiah 39 to 45 inclusive. Note that chapters 44 and 45 are particularly important).


POINT 21 – Fugitives Taken to Babylon

“In 581 B.C., the few remaining Jews in Palestine allied themselves with the Moabites and made a last wild stand for independence. A final defeat followed by a final exile brought them to irretrievable ruin” (Passing Empires by Maspero). How many were exiled at this time and how many exiled from Egypt we do not know. Note here that there were two groups of Jews in Egypt at the time that Nebuchadnezzar conquered that country; those who dwelt in Egypt prior to the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, and those who had fled to Egypt after the murder of Gedeliah. It was the descendants of these captives from Egypt and of the 4600 deported from Jerusalem, who returned from Babylon and established themselves as the Jewish Nation in Palestine, about 520 B.C.

POINT 22 – Jews Increase in Babylon

If the “residue” removed to Babylon numbered 15,000, as one writer estimates, they could have increased easily during their captivity, to the number indicated by Ezra (about 50,000). They were urged to marry and raise large families (Jeremiah 29:5,6); and they added further to their number by inter-marriage with the Babylonians. The Jews were severely criticized for this practice (Ezra 9:1,2; 10:10,13,14; Nehemiah 13:23,26). How much of an alien ad-mixture the Jews received from this source is not known, but it must have been considerable judging from the drastic action taken in the matter by Ezra and Neheniah.

POINT 23 – Jews Who Returned to Jerusalem

In Ezra 2:64,65, we are told that 42,460 of the congregation and 7,337 servants returned from Babylon; later arrivals brought the total to about 55,000. The servants were, of course, of alien or doubtful ancestry, otherwise they would have been numbered with the congregation. No doubt these servants were eventually absorbed and thus the Jews, in this manner alone, received an alien admixture of about one-seventh. The Jews inter-married with the Babylonians, Syrians and other races also, as previously pointed out, and such mixture with alien races seems to have been sufficient to change the physiognomy indicated in Isaiah 3:9.

POINT 24 – Effects of Inter-marriage

The mention of the fact that the Jews are of a mixed race is not intended as an aspersion on them. It should be noted that it is a biological virtue to keep the race pure. The Israelites were instructed, time and again, not to mix with other races. Both Jews and non-Jews were offenders in this.

POINT 25 – Historians and Public Misled

Today it is quite generally held that the ten tribes were “lost” by being absorbed by other races, The popular belief seems to be that Benjamin, part of Levi, the children of Israel who dwelt in the fenced cities of Judah, and those who joined Asa and Rehoboam for religious reasons, have long since amalgamated with the tribes of Judah, and that now -all Israel is represented in the present-day Jew. Perhaps this is the reason why the names Israel, Judah, and Jew are held to be synonymous, although no basis for such a belief is to be found in the Scriptures. Compilers of Encyclopedias and Dictionaries seem naively unaware of the fact- that these names denote distinct groups among the descendants of Jacob (Israel). Once the error is accepted that the terms Israel and Jew are synonymous, the flood-gates of error are wide open and there is nothing to hinder prophecies intended for Israel being applied to the Jews, even though the Holy Word says plainly “Israel.”

POINT 26 – Sennacherib’s Raid

Those who hold to this idea should remember that Sennacherib carried away all the people of the Kingdom of Judah except those who were shut up in the city of Jerusalem. Most of these captives were Judah-ites, but among them were Bejaminites, Levites, and elements of the other tribes. These captives were carried away one hundred years before the Babylonian captivity and were “lost” in the same manner as the ten tribes are supposed to -have been lost. It matters little whether these children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah were few or many in number; they simply could not have been any part of the ancestry of the Jewish nation which was established after the Babylonian captivity.



POINT 27 – The Two Baskets

In the 24th chapter of Jeremiah, we read about a final division in which the tribe of Judah was involved. Two baskets of figs, one bad, the other good, are used to symbolize two groups of Jews into which the Kingdom was divided at the time of the Babylonian captivity.

POINT 28 – The Good Figs

Jeconiah and the 10,000 exiled with him are the good figs, and there is good reason that Sennacherib’s captives (200,150) also belong to the good figs. The promise to this group called “good figs” was that they shall be returned to Palestine and after being returned they shall not again be plucked up (Jeremiah 24.6).


POINT 29 – The Bad Figs

Zedekiah, and his princes, the residue left in Jerusalem, together with those who dwelt in Egypt, were the bad figs. In 2 Kings 24:14, they are called the “poorest sort” of the people of the land. It is this group that formed the nucleus of the Jewish Nation (Jeremiah 24:8). Below we quote without comment the last two verses of Jeremiah 24:

“And I will deliver them to be removed into all the Kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them until they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto their fathers.”

POINT 30 – The Return to Jerusalem

The group symbolized as good figs did not return to Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity. Had they returned, they would be there still, as they were promised that when they return, it would be permanent. Those who did return were the bad figs. The Babylonian captivity was not the dispersion spoken of in Jeremiah 24:9. The Jews were taken to Babylon, but they were not scattered; their dispersion dates from 70 A.D. The judgments pronounced upon the Jews in Jeremiah 24:9 and 10 are still in effect.

POINT 31 – Racial Ancestry of Jews

We have already considered the tribal composition of the Kingdom of Judah, and we can readily believe that this remained essentially the same to the time of the Babylonian captivity. It seems also, that the residue left in Jerusalem under Zedekiah was substantially the same as to tribal composition; and we learn from Ezra 1:5 that it was these same tribal elements that participated in the return to Jerusalem. We learn from Nehemiah 7:73 and 11:3,4 that some of the children of Israel were among those who first returned to Jerusalem, and that they were placed in cities by themselves but whatever the exact tribal composition may have been the “Residue” remained the same during the captivity, except for the alien elements absorbed in Babylon. The bad figs remained regardless of tribal origin.

POINT 32 – Jews Are A Remnant of Judah

There may be some question about the Jews being wholly of the tribe of Judah. Of the 48,607 who first returned from Babylon, one writer estimates that about 30,000 were of the tribe of Judah. This indicates that 60% were Judah, taking no account of the alien admixture In the days of Jesus Christ, the Benjaminites (Galileans) lived apart from, and were considered to be poor relations by the Jews; and it is evident that they fled from Jerusalem before the Romans captured it in 70 A.D. as was prophesied they would do (Jeremiah 6:1; Hosea 5:8; Luke 21:20,21). Whether or not the Israelites who participated in the return from Babylon also segregated themselves from the Jews, is not known; however, it seems that today the Jews are predominantly of Judah and alien elements, the latter most likely in the majority.



POINT 33 – Emigration from Palestine

After the Israelites under Joshua’s leadership entered Palestine, that country, which is roughly 160 miles long and 50 miles wide could not long continue to hold the rapidly increasing population. The 450 years from the time of David to the breaking-up of the Kingdoms of Israel, was also the formative period for Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. Much of Europe was a wilderness, and it was natural for the people of Palestine to emigrate to these vacant areas away from their war-torn world where several Empires contended for mastery.

POINT 34 – What Became of These Immigrants?

In the days of the Judges, the people of Dan and Asher were sea-faring folk (Judges 5:17). Dan is called a trader in Ezekial 27:19. It seems reasonable to believe that in this period, from the early days of Judges to the Babylonian and Assyrian captivities, the Israelites were leaving Palestine for Greece and other lands, individually, by family, and in larger groups. Here in the United States we are so close to the trekking of our immediate fore-fathers to vacant land, that it is easy for us to understand why the Israelites of old left their troubled and crowded land to make new hones on virgin soil nearby. This seems to be the only logical explanation of what became of the millions of Israelites who once occupied Palestine.

POINT 35 – Population at the Time of David

According to David’s census, the ten tribes had 1,100,000 men of military age, and Judah had 470,000. Benjamin and Levi were not included in this census (1 Chronicles 21:5,6). Assuming that one-eighth of the population were of military age, the people of Judah, Benjamin and the portion of Levi totaled about five million in the time of David.

POINT 36 – Increase Natural

During a period of about fifty years, from David’s enumeration of the tribes to the death of Solomon, there was prosperity and comparative peace in Palestine. Under such circumstances, there must have been considerable increase in population. However, since we are using these figures for comparison, and wishing to be conservative, we shall use the figures given in the census of David.

POINT 37 – Israelites in Greece

It is easily proven that much of Greece’s early population was of Hebrew extraction. Dan left his name in many places as a marker; the name “Danai” occurs in Homer’s Illiad and Odessey at least 147 times. The presence of Israelites in Greece was but a natural outgrowth of the existing conditions in that part of the world. To indicate that there is more than mere assertion to the claim that Israelites took an active part in the early life of Greece, we shall here incorporate an epistle from the Lacedemonian king to the High Priest in Jerusalem, also the High Priest ‘s reply.

POINT 38 – Letter from the Lacedemonian King

“Areus, King of the Lacedemonians, to Oneus sendeth greetings. We have met with certain writings whereby we have discovered that both Jew and Lacedemonians are of one stock, and are derived from the kindred of Abraham. It is but just, therefore, that you who are brethren should send to us about any of your concern as you please. We will also do the same thing and esteem your concern as our own, and will look upon our concern as in common with yours.

POINT 39 – The High Priest’s Reply

When in former times an epistle was brought to Oneas who was our High Priest, from Areus, who was at that time your king, by Demoteles, concerning the kindred that was between us and you, a copy of which is hereby enjoined, we both joyfully received the epistle, and were well pleased with Areus and Demoteles, although we did not need a demonstration, because we were well satisfied about it from the sacred writings” (from Josephus, Book 12, chapter 6).

POINT 40 – Comparisons

We shall now summarize the figures given regarding the census of David and of the captivities, in order to show the relatively small number of the “residue” which was the nucleus of the Jewish Nation.

5,000,000 – Estimated population at time of David’s census (see Point 35). 

200,150 – Captives carried away by Sennacherib (see Point 15). 

4,699 – Exiled by Nebuchadnezzar (see Points 17,19) 

15,000 – The above 4699 plus captives in Egypt (see Point 20).

POINT 41 – Jews Are Not All of Judah

We have traced the origin of the Jewish Nation to a minor fraction of the tribe of Judah, some elements of the other Israel tribes, and a goodly portion of alien admixture. This residue, which developed into the Jewish nation, cannot rightly be said to be the tribe of Judah, any more than a fragment of a broken plate can be called the plate. True, the Jews came partly from Judah, but do not constitute the Tribe of Judah and cannot rightfully claim the prophecies for that tribe or for any other Israel tribe. It is evident that the writer of Acts thought of the Jews as distant from the tribe of Judah (Acts 26:7). This is clearer still in James, where we find that James addressed his epistle to the “twelve tribes scattered abroad” (James 1:1). The Jews were not scattered at the time James wrote this epistle, but the twelve tribes, including Judah, were scattered. Thus the Scriptures do not recognize the Jews as the whole tribe of Judah.

POINT 42 – Charter for “Jewish Nation”

The ninth chapter of Daniel contains the charter for the Jewish Nation: A nation destined to endure for seventy prophetic weeks; on a scale of a day for a year, or 490 years (Ezekial 4:5,6). This nation was chosen of God to supply the background and surroundings for the coming of Messiah (Daniel 9:24-27). When those purposes were accomplished, the Jews rejected Christ as their Savior when they cried, “Crucify Him, Crucify Him. His blood be on us and on our children” (Matthew 27:22-25). They rejected Christ as King, also by declaring, “We have no king but Caesar” (John 19:15), thus violating their own law, according to which they should not acknowledge a king who was not of their own race (Deuteronomy 17). The legitimate mission of the Jewish Nation thus ended, and by their own actions they terminated their national charter even as Christ had previously told them: “The Kingdom of God shall be taken from you…” (Matthew 21:43). Note in this connection the marginal rendering of one line in Daniel 9:26, “The Jews they shall be no more His People.” The dispersion of the Jews began when the Romans captured Jerusalem in 70 A.D. The dispersions and judgments pronounced upon the “residue” (Jews) in Jerusalem, as found in Jeremiah 24:8-10, have continued down through the centuries, and the end is not yet.

POINT 43 – The Jews Were Never Lost

Most people consider the ten tribes of Israel to be “lost.” In like manner the tribes of Benjamin and Judah are lost, except for the Jews, a small fraction of the Kingdom of Judah. The Jews are not lost and have never been lost; the world has never been permitted to forget them. To write in detail of the Jews would be to write a history of the world; yet it may be well to point out here a few events in their history.

POINT 44 – Troubled Times for Jewish Nation

Immediately after their return from Babylon, the Jews had “troublous” times while building the temple and walls about Jerusalem. Their condition was tolerable while they remained under the rather mild rule of Medo-Persia; but after the fall of that Empire, the Jews were almost continually subject to persecution. Their condition became rather trying after the death of Alexander the Great, and was particularly bad after the battle of Ipsus (301 B.C.), when the Ptolemys became firmly established in Egypt, and when a few years later the Selucids became masters of Syria: These powers becoming respectively the “King of the South” and the “King of the North” mentioned in Daniel. These two nations were at war with each other most of the time, and Palestine, a strip of land bound on the west by the Mediterranean and on the east by the Jordan River and desert beyond, was a natural highway over which the contending forces of Egypt and Syria frequently moved. So Jerusalem became sort of a football between the contending armies, the Jews having to exist under ever changing ruler ship.

POINT 45 – Antiochus the Worst Oppressor


The worst period for the Jews came during the rule of Antiochus Epiphanes (175-164 B.C.). He took Jerusalem, slew 40,000 persons and plundered the temple. As a crowning insult to the Jews, Antiochus had a sow butchered in the “Holy of Holies” and its blood sprinkled on the sacred things in the temple. Antiochus sought to Helenize the Jews and was aided in that effort by some of the Jews themselves, but was stoutly opposed by the faithful. Evidently he planned a totalitarianism where all the people in this realm should adhere to a uniform religious practice dictated by him, with death the fate of the non-conformists.

POINT 46 – Jews Come Under Roman Rule

This brought on the Macabee wars, which in turn brought the Jews a short-lived independence; but the successors of the Macabees soon promoted wars of their own and the fighting continued. At this time the Roman Empire was rapidly extending its rule; Syria became a Roman Province in 64 B.C., while Palestine and Egypt came under Roman rule soon after.


POINT 47 – The End of the Jewish Nation

Seemingly the Jews did not profit by the experience of their ancestors; they rebelled in the face of hopeless odds, a mere handful of people, relatively, challenging Rome to battle when Rome was at the height of its power. The story of the siege and fall of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. contains some of the most horrible pages in the annals of mankind. But even this terrible drubbing did not suffice to quell the rebellious spirit of the Jews. Under the leadership of a supposed Messiah, one Simon Bar Cochebas, the Jews revolted once more in 132 to 135 A.D. The Romans, in exasperation, handed the Jews a worse drubbing than in 70 A.D. Vast numbers of the Jews were killed or sold into slavery, while those who escaped were denied access to Jerusalem, on pain of death, except by special permit.

POINT 48 – Racial Mixture of Jewry

Some of the scattered Jews made their way to Spain, where they became mixed with the Spaniards and Moors, and are today known as the Sepharidim Jews. They are less than a million in number and scattered throughout Asia Minor, eastern and central Europe and Russia. Later on they were driven out of Constantinople, and during the Crusades had to flee from central Europe, where they were cruelly persecuted. Most of these found refuge in eastern Poland and Russia, where they became known as the Ashkenazim Jews. As early as 800 A.D. these Ashkenazim Jews came into contact with a nation in Russia known as the Khazars; many of these Khazars, including the rulers, adopted the Judaic religion, and thus were called Jews. From 1243 A.D. on for about 350 years, Russia was ruled by Mongol hordes, and that the Jews took on more alien admixture on account of these contacts seems certain.

POINT 49 – Many Not of Israelites’ Ancestry

As we have noted, the Jews were a mixed race at the time of the return from Babylon. During the centuries which followed, down to their dispersion by the Romans, the Jews became further mixed with alien peoples who ruled over them. The large number of Jews scattered about the world as slaves, would be, of course, a source of racial blending. The Jews were always seeking proselytes, and these proselytes, being Jews in religion only, were eventually classed as Jews racially. Considering these factors, we can readily believe the Jewish race a thoroughly mixed one. Evidently it is a fact, as claimed by many, that a substantial portion of those who today call themselves Jews, are not descendants of Judah at all. Hence we can understand what is meant in Revelation 2:9, “of them which say they are Jews but are not…

POINT 50 – Prophecy Fulfilled by Jews

Since the fall of Jerusalem, the Jews have been a people without king or country, scattered among the nations as the prophets said they would be (Jeremiah 24:8-10; Ezekial 11:14-21; Daniel 9:24-27). These are the main prophecies in the Old Testament that deal with the Jews. See also Jeremiah 15:4; 25:17-18; 34:17; and chapters 13, 43, 44, 45. 



POINT 51 – Covenant of Promise to Abraham

The following passages contain many of the unconditional promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: Genesis 12:7; 15:5,14-18; 17:2-16; 18:18; 22:16-18; 26:3,4, 24; 28:13,14; 35:11; 48:4,19; Exodus 6:8.

According to these promises, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob should possess much land; should become as numerous as the stars in the heavens; should become a nation and a “company of nations.” These prophecies have not been fulfilled by the Jews, who are few in number, about 17 million at this time; and it is claimed that a majority of those who say they are Jews are not of the seed of Abraham at all. In place of being a “company of nations,” the Jews have neither country, king nor government of their own. In the face of these facts, the claim that the Jews are God’s “chosen people” and heirs to these unconditional promises, seems ridiculous.

POINT 52 – Promise to Ephraim and Mamasseh

The unconditional promise made to Ephraim and Manasseh was that Ephraim should become a “multitude of nations;” Manasseh should become a “great people.” Ephraim and Manasseh were the sons of Joseph, and each became a progenitor of a separate tribe in Israel. By what sort of legerdemain can these promises which were made to Ephraim and Manasseh be applied to the Jews?

POINT 53 – God Cannot Break His Covenants

Has God changed His mind and abrogated His promise to the ten tribes? Has He excluded from these promises the descendants of Shelah and Zarah, the descendants of the 200,150 men carried away by Sennacherib (good figs) and the descendants of the millions who emigrated from Palestine: Emphatically NO! “By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord.” (Genesis 22:16-18; Hebrews 6:13; Luke 1:72-73. “I will never break my covenant with you” (Judges 2:1: Ezekial 16:60).

POINT 54 – Early Jewish Claim to Palestine

If you still believe that the Jews are heirs to Palestine, ponder well the following passage of Scripture: “Son of man, thy brethren, the men of thy kindred (tribe of Judah) and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem (the Jews) have said, Get you far from the Lord; unto us is this land given in possession. Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God: Although I have cast them (the house of Israel wholly) far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be unto you a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. Say therefore, Thus saith the Lord God: I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel” (Ezekial 11:16-17).


POINT 55 – Jews Are “the Inhabitants of Jerusalem”

Ezekiel wrote the above after Jehoichin and the 10,000 captives (good figs) were removed from Jerusalem in the second Babylonian captivity; while the “bad figs,” who made this presumptuous claim, were still living in Jerusalem under Zedekiah. Read again Jeremiah 24, note also that Ezekiel refers to the Jews as “inhabitants of Jerusalem,” not as Judah. They were removed to Babylon during the siege and after the fall of Jerusalem, but they were not scattered at that time. They were later returned to Jerusalem and remained there as the Jewish Nation until 70 A.D.

POINT 56 – Day of Trouble for Jerusalem

The descendants of these people (the “bad figs”) together

with certain alien elements (mostly atheistic) “who call themselves Jews but are not,” are now gathering in Palestine as Jews. The fate of these people is clearly indicated in Zephaniah, first chapter: “Howl ye inhabitants of Maktesh” (a street in Jerusalem). Note that Zephaniah identifies them as “inhabitants,” the same term used by Ezekiel, and not as Judah. In verse 12 we read that the Lord “will search Jerusalem with candles and punish the men who are settled on their lees…” – they shall also build houses but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards but not drink the wine thereof.” The time of these events is the “Great Day of the Lord” (verse 14), evidently applying to the end of the age now approaching. Certainly if the Bible is true, these people who are now returning to Palestine as Jews will have to make way for the tribe of Judah and the house of Israel to whom the Lord said, “I will gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”


Prophetically there is no place for the Jews as a GROUP or NATION. Those who call themselves Jews “but are not” have no part in the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; other than the promises that apply to all NON-Israelites: “In thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:3; 28:14). We have here a double promise that they nay share in the physical blessings of God’s Kingdom after it is established on the earth; (Micah 4:2-14); and promise of personal salvation which is offered freely to every son of Adam, “out of every kindred and tongue and nation” (Revelation 5:9).

Apart from salvation in Jesus Christ, there is now no place for the Jews, but their individual places with their brethren of the tribe of Judah, wherever it may be. Indeed, if the Jews as a GROUP inject themselves into the now developing World Drama, they will find themselves as terribly mistaken as were their progenitors 1900 years ago.

We believe God’s moral, civil, and national law, as codified by Moses, should be the law of the land, if we wish to enjoy lasting peace, freedom, happiness, prosperity, and a close relationship with our Cod. The Congregations of Israel do not align with any political persuasion. We believe that our rights are guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights, and allows us to voice our opinions on all matters which we consider are in violation of Cod’s laws and our right to freedom of worship and expression. We are bound under the eight covenants listed in the Bible: (1) the Edenic Covenant, made with Adam in the Garden of Eden; (2) the Adamic Covenant, made with Adam after the fall from grace; (3) the Noahic Covenant, made with Noah following the flood; (4) the Abrahamic Covenant, made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob-Israel; (5) the Mosaic Covenant, which was declared at Mount Sinai and is the basis for common law; (6) the Palestinian Covenant, made with Israel as they were about to enter Palestine; (7) the Davidic Covenant, setting forth the promises of God to the House of David; (8) the New Covenant, as brought by our Saviour, Christ Jesus. These Covenants between God and His people provide a summary of the total teaching and purpose of the Bible. We, as Israelites, are the recipients of the blessings of these Covenants His very elect and chosen, His servant people the Covenant People of God as found in the Bible.
